Most product recommendations fail in the same way. They tell you a thing is good. They do not tell you who it is good for, which is the only question that matters when you are the one paying. A pair of headphones that is superb for a commuter can be a poor choice for someone who wears glasses and works in a quiet room. Both facts are true at once. Only one of them usually gets printed.

So we made a rule. Every review and roundup here carries an explicit passage about who should skip it. If we cannot write that passage honestly, the piece is not finished.

How we pay for this

Through affiliate links. If you buy something after following a link from one of our articles, the retailer pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That is the entire business model — no sponsored rankings, no paid placements, no advertiser approving a draft.

The commission never decides the order of a list. We explain exactly how this works, and what we refuse to do, in our affiliate disclosure.

What we will not do

  • Invent test results, prices, or awards. If we cannot verify a number, we write around it.
  • Rank by commission rate. Ever.
  • Publish a review without saying who it is wrong for.
  • Let a merchant see a piece before it goes live.

The longer version of that list lives in our editorial policy.

Getting in touch

Corrections, questions and disagreements are all welcome — the contact page has the addresses. If we get something wrong we fix it and say so in the article.
